Product Description:

Extraneal is a sterile peritoneal dialysis solution containing 7.5% icodextrin and electrolytes. It is used in patients with kidney failure to help remove waste products and excess fluid through the peritoneal membrane.

Icodextrin helps draw excess water into the dialysis solution during the prescribed long dwell—the period when the solution remains in the abdomen. Extraneal is used for a single daily long-dwell exchange as part of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) or automated peritoneal dialysis (APD), as prescribed by a nephrologist.
