Baxter Dianeal 1.5% is a sterile, dextrose-based solution containing electrolytes, designed for peritoneal dialysis in patients with kidney failure. How It Works:

During peritoneal dialysis, the solution is introduced into the abdominal cavity through a dialysis catheter. The peritoneal membrane acts as a filtering surface, allowing waste substances and excess water to move from the blood into the dialysis solution. The used solution is then drained as part of the prescribed dialysis exchange.

Dextrose provides the osmotic effect that helps draw excess water into the solution. The treating nephrologist selects the appropriate dextrose strength, fill volume and exchange schedule according to the patient’s needs.
